Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung on his appointment as Associate Professor

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung is currently the Head of the Department of Communications, Faculty of Computer Networks and Communications at the University of Information Technology, VNU-HCM (UIT). As a young scientist with numerous outstanding research achievements in the field of information technology, he was appointed to the rank of Associate Professor on January 8, 2026, marking a significant milestone in his teaching and scientific research career.

Starting as a student at the University of Information Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung early on oriented himself toward a career in scientific research. After completing his Master's degree at Télécom Paris with a perfect GPA of 4.0/4.0, he pursued his Ph.D. at Sorbonne University with the research topic "Enhancing Interoperability for the Internet of Things (IoT) in Smart City Contexts." This international academic training provided a solid foundation, enabling him to access modern research trends, particularly in the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and information security.

During his tenure at UIT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung has served as a researcher, lecturer, and currently as the Head of Department. Parallel to his teaching activities, he established a strong research group focusing on the Internet of Things at UIT and has twice received the Certificate of Merit from VNU-HCM for outstanding scientific research achievements.

Furthermore, he was awarded the Certificate of Merit for "Lecturer of the Year" in 2024 by VNU-HCM, along with a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for his excellent performance over two consecutive academic years, from 2020–2021 to 2021–2022. Notably in 2024, he was honored with the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award and was nominated as an Outstanding Young Vietnamese Talent.
With great passion for training and mentoring postgraduate students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung has been making significant contributions to cultivating high-quality human resources in the information technology sector.

The primary research directions of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung focus on machine learning-based intrusion detection systems for the Internet of Things, smart applications in IoT, edge computing, and network security. He has published 41 scientific papers, including 14 articles in prestigious international journals (ISI/Scopus); he is also the primary inventor/author of 2 patents/utility solutions and 1 textbook published by a reputable publisher. According to Google Scholar, his works have accumulated over 800 citations with an H-index of 14, demonstrating his growing academic impact in the international research community.

Being recognized as fulfilling the standards for the academic title of Associate Professor is not only an important milestone in the personal career of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Kim Hung, but also contributes to affirming the academic prestige and quality of the faculty at the University of Information Technology – VNU-HCM on its journey of development and international integration.
